The Vietnam economic reform taken place in 1986 (“Doi Moi”) has resulted in an exploding economic growth with increasing growth rates over the years. Since 2007, this South East Asian State has become a member of the World Trade Organization (“WTO”) giving tremendous opportunities for foreign investors to access to Vietnamese market. For years, Vietnam has been maintaining strong commercial relationships with Japan, Singapore and entering into a great deal of local free trade agreements. These facts have made Vietnam a hot spot attracting countless international companies making investments and setting up significant manufacturing operations for the production and delivery of goods and/or services within the Asian region. And Vietnam will become even more attractive once the free trade agreement with the European Union is ratified. Notably, Ho-Chi-Minh-City, a cultural heart as well as the business hub of Vietnam, is known as one of the fastest growing metropolises in the world.

At that very metropolis, Schomerus & Partner has entered into a cooperation with ASIA COUNSEL Vietnam Law Company Limited (“ASIA COUNSEL”), a law firm with both international and domestic lawyers with more than a decade of experience in Vietnam. ASIA COUNSEL is deeply familiar with Vietnam’s ever-changing legal system and deal practices. ASIA COUNSEL is proud to have been acting for multinationals, private equity funds, financial institutions, large cap Vietnamese companies as well as small and midsize companies.

Both SCHOMERUS and ASIA COUNSEL are focusing on representing the interests of companies on a variety areas of law, for instance commercial and corporate law, mergers and acquisitions as well as joint-ventures – to name just a few. This cooperation enables SCHOMERUS to advise their German and European clients on Vietnam legal matters, which would subsequently save the clients from additional costs and time spent on engaging a Vietnamese attorney.
